Draidel Speed Test is an open experiment. We believe in being transparent about what we collect, what we don’t, and why.
What we collect
Test results (server-side)
When you run a speed test, we send an anonymous snapshot to our database for aggregate analytics. This includes:
- Download and upload speeds (Mbps)
- Latency metrics (min, median, p95, jitter, packet loss)
- Health score and interpretation text
- Connection metadata: ISP name, ASN, city, country, region, continent, timezone
- Server location (Cloudflare PoP code), connection type (WiFi/cellular/ethernet)
- HTTP protocol version and TLS version
- Raw speed and latency sample arrays
- A random client-generated ID (nanoid) for deduplication only
Personal history (client-side)
Your last 20 test results are saved in your browser’s localStorage. This data never leaves your device. You can clear it any time from the “Recent Tests” section.
What we don’t collect
- IP addresses — stripped client-side before submission and structurally excluded server-side. Even if the client accidentally sends one, the server never reads it.
- Precise geolocation — no GPS coordinates, no latitude/longitude. City-level location comes from Cloudflare’s edge network, not from your device.
- User accounts or profiles — no sign-up, no login, no email, no cookies that identify you.
- Browser fingerprinting — we don’t compute or store device fingerprints.
Third-party services
- Cloudflare Workers — our test endpoints run on Cloudflare’s edge network. Cloudflare may process request metadata (IP, headers) transiently per their privacy policy.
- Cloudflare Turnstile — invisible bot verification. No CAPTCHA, no user interaction. Cloudflare processes limited signals to distinguish humans from bots.
- Vercel Analytics — anonymous page view analytics. No cookies, no personal identifiers.
- Supabase — our database host. Test results are stored in a PostgreSQL database managed by Supabase.
How we use the data
Aggregate test results are used to:
- Understand internet speed patterns across regions and ISPs
- Improve the speed test methodology and accuracy
- Potentially surface public aggregate insights (e.g., average speeds by city)
We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share individual test results with third parties.
Data retention
Server-side test results are retained indefinitely for aggregate analysis. Since results are anonymous and cannot be linked back to an individual, there is no personal data to delete. Your browser-side history is fully under your control — clear it any time.
Your rights
Because we don’t collect personal identifiers, we generally cannot identify which records belong to you. If you have concerns or questions, reach out and we’ll do our best to help.
Bot & abuse protection
To prevent abuse, our Cloudflare Worker enforces rate limits (10 tests/hour, 50/day per IP) and bandwidth caps. These checks happen at the edge and the IP address is not forwarded to our application or database.
Changes
We may update this page as the project evolves. Significant changes will be noted with an updated date at the top.
